The Makeup and Beauty Blog Monday Poll for September 3, 2012

  • You might be wondering, “So what the heck is this Monday Poll thing anyway?” Well, it isn’t much of a poll. It’s more just a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past four years. I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
  1. Mood: A little sleepy, but otherwise great! :) Tabs gave me the day off (he’s too kind), so I’m looking forward to relaxing today.
  2. Do you shower in the morning or at night before bed? Depends on whether I can sneak in an early workout. If I can, then I’ll usually (hopefully) shower when I’m done, but I may also shower again at night because I can’t stand going to bed with that sticky feeling on the backs of my knees, yuck!
  3. Which movies would you never want to see remade? Dear Hollywood Powers That Be,

Please keep your re-making hands off of The Terminator, The Sound of Music and The Godfather (both I and II).

    Thank you!

  4. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? I really wanted to be a veterinarian, but my mom and dad were quick about shooting down that idea when I got ready to go to college.

My parents immigrated to the United States from the Philippines in the mid 1970s and arrived here with high hopes for the family, and because I got pretty decent grades in school, they were hell bent on me becoming a medical doctor (obviously that didn’t happen…and for the better! I can’t stand the sight of blood, and hospitals freak me out.)

I can still remember my dad saying, “Why work on animals when you could work on people?”

    Sigh…

I love and appreciate my parents, but a lot of important discussions were lost in translation during my teenage years.

  5. What’s the best thing that happened to you yesterday? I had an excellent run on the treadmill. The best in days, as a matter of fact.

I ran a couple of time while I was in Tahoe, and truth be told, the runs sucked because I could definitely feel the effects of the altitude. The city is over 1 mile high, and it almost felt like I was running with a 20-pound weight strapped to my chest.

But now, though, back down at sea level where the oxygen is richer, I feel a little bit stronger for it.

  6. Let’s order a pizza! Where should we go, and what topping should we get? That’s easy! I vote for the Fire Roasted Medley pizza from Base Camp Pizza in South Lake Tahoe. Roasted garlic and fresh basil, tomatoes, roasted onions, peppers and goat cheese on a slightly crisp, flavorful crust that doesn’t get soggy from the toppings? YUM!
  7. Have you prepared at all for the holidays? Yup! I actually got a few Christmas presents over the weekend. I swear, I’m starting really early this year! No more frantic, last-minute runs to the mall. Nope (or so she says).
  8. What’s one of someone else’s habits that you wish you could change? That’s easy. I wish El Hub would stop breaking dishes. I dunno why, but the man is such a butterfingers when it comes to plates, cups, glasses and bowls! I’m afraid to get any nice dishes for fear of him breaking them and haven’t owned a complete set of anything since we started dating 10 years ago.

NOTHING in my cupboard matches, and it is slowly but surely driving me nuts.

  9. What sound reminds you of your childhood? Ice cream trucks! The one from my old neighborhood played a music box version of The Entertainer, and I remember having almost supernatural hearing for it, LOL!

Funny. There’s an ice cream truck that drives through this neighborhood on occasion playing the same song with a remixed bass beat. It's like the hip-hop ice cream truck, haaaay! So weird.

  10. Weekly goals: To be a good cheerleader for my friends and family, and to spend some extra time playing with the Tab-ster.

Hello and happy Labor Day, friend! It took me a while, but I finally watched the True Blood finale last night, so if you want to dish, holla at me in the comments so we can talk about that epic last scene (WHAT THE WHAT?!).

Also, I think I mentioned reading a book called Delirium by Lauren Oliver? Well, meh, it was just okay. Decent writing, but it puttered along at a slow pace, and I kept having Twilight flashbacks.

If you like pretty straightforward romances, it does get great reviews.

Right now I’m just counting down the seconds until Outpost, the second book in the Enclave series, comes out at midnight tomorrow. I pre-ordered it, but I’m wondering if midnight means that it’ll show up on my Kindle at midnight Pacific Time or Eastern. If it’s Eastern, that would mean 9 p.m. my time, which means I could start reading it tonight!

Okay…I need to chill out, LOL!

Anywho, if you have a minute, please drop in and say hello in the Monday Poll.

  • To complete the Monday Poll, just copy the following list, and paste it with your answers in the comments.
